Stories for Growth Workshop Toolkit:

How It All Works: The resources showcased below work together to support groups of caring adults who want to learn and practice family-oriented EI skills in a safe group setting.  The 8 workshops delve into our stories, each exploring various core themes and skills. We organized each workshop to feature: one video, workshop script, and workbook section. Our hope is that you are able to connect these to your own stories and experiences, and build relationships with each other. As caring adults, we reflect on our life lessons to inform caregiving for the next generation.  Participating in the workshop series means you’ll be on this journey with a group of people. You are not alone.

  • Seven Story-based Videos, centered around true stories from the lives of parents, grandparents, and other caring adults.

  • Eight Video-based Workshops, designed to deepen the social and emotional learning of each video.
    • Both the videos and workshops leverage personal stories to motivate conversations about emotions.
    • Workshops are approximately 2 hours in length.
  • Companion Workbook for Participants to use during and between workshops.
    • The Workbook spotlights key concepts and SEL practices in each video.
    • The Workbook offers group and individual activities.
  • Facilitator’s Guide to prepare those who wish to deliver the workshops. This guide supports community-building and skill-building for leading group conversations around emotions.

These resources center the concerns, examples, and voices of local parent leaders. We wanted as many people as possible to feel seen, understood, and engaged in this work. Together, we can build and share practices within our communities.
